Fr Isaac Bunde Dugu
The Holy Father, Pope Francis, has appointed Rev. Fr Isaac Bunde Dugu at exactly 12 noon today as the new Bishop of Katsina-Ala Diocese. Until his appointment, Msgr Dugu was the Director of Pastoral Agents Department of the Catholic Secretariat of Nigeria.
Rev. Fr. Isaac Bunde Dugu was born on 14 April 1971 in Gboko, then the
Diocese of Makurdi, and was ordained a priest on 21 October 2000 for the clergy of the same Diocese of Makurdi. He then joined the clergy of the new Diocese of Gboko, created at the end of 2012.
After attending the St. Thomas Aquinas Major Seminary in Makurdi (1991-
1993) and the Saint Augustine Major Seminary in Jos (1994-1999), he obtained a Licentiate in Theology (2007-2011) at the Philosophisch-Theologische Hochschule Sankt Georgen in Frankfurt, Germany. After ordination he held the following positions:
2000 – 2003: Assistant Parish Priest of Holy Ghost Parish in Abeda
2003: Priest in charge of St. Mary’s Parish in Chito
2003 – 2004: Assistant Parish Priest of the Holy Ghost Parish in Makurdi
2004 – 2007: Administrative Secretary at the Catholic Secretariat of Nigeria
(CSN) in Lagos
2011 – 2012: Chaplain of the Schools of Nursing and Midwifery in Makurdi
2011 – 2013: Chancellor of the Diocese of Makurdi
2013 – 2019: Chancellor and member of the College of Consultors of the
Diocese of Gboko
2013 – 2019: Parish Priest of St. George’s Rectory in Tyobo, Gboko
2013 – 2019: Expert of the Nigerian Bishops’ Conference
2020 to date: Director of the Pastoral Agents Department at the Catholic
Pope Francis has appointed Fr Isaac Dugu Bishop of the Catholic Diocese of Katsina-Ala.
