Brief History of St. Peter’s Quasi Parish, Ikyule

St. Peter’s Quasi Parish, Ikyule was created out of St. Athanasius Parish, Anyiin.  On the creation of Abeda parish in 1984 by Rev. Fr. Jack Groves, CSSp, Ikyule was made the headquarters of River zone comprising of saghev (Nongov) and Teembo respectively.

Having seen how encouraging Ikyule was, very Rev. Fr. Fidelis Akume Terna made her an independent zone in 2006 with High level, Kpooko and Dagbera within the church. From accumulated records, it was abundantly clear that, apart from Anyiin in the then Anyiin parish, Ikyule always maintained the second position in Bazaar, church offertory and other dues.  As a result, it was made the headquarters of Zone “B” comprising of 17 zones:  Ikyule, Aman, Audu, Mbalian, Mku, Uzer, Chia, Adima, Iche, Nyamikyume, Ukuma, Ugah, Gbeleve, Getim, Adi, Poochle and Numve.

With the creation of Katsina-Ala Diocese on 23rd February, 2013, the bishop, Most Rev. Peter I Adoboh, constituted a five man committee to tour round the Diocese and see those areas that were fit for missions.  The committee visited zone “B” in Ikyule on the 12th March, 2013.  The result was that Ikyule was fit for a Quasi Parish. On 13th April, 2013, Very Rev. Fr. Raphael Ihoul was sent to Ikyule Quasi parish as the parish priest.
