| A Brief History of St. Gabriel Agbanyi Zaki-Biam
St. Gabriel’s Catholic Quasi Parish, Agbanyi, Zaki-Biam was established in 1992. The Quasi parish was carved out of the mother parish of St. Anthony’s Zaki-Biam. Rev. Fr. Clement Iortyer officially opened the Church on 22nd May, 1992. Historically, the mass celebrated by Rev. Fr. Iortyer on this remarkable day became the first mass celebrated in the Church.
The proper maturity of the young church (Agbanyi) came about on 6th September, 2011 when His Excellency, the then Auxiliary Bishop of Makurdi diocese, Most Revd William Avenya pronounced it a Quasi Parish and Very Rev. Fr. Tyosenda Moses T. was made the Parish Priest. The Quasi Parish has 7 Zones and 35 outstations. |
