| A Brief History of St. Francis’ Quasi Parish, Gondozua
St. Francis’ Quasi Parish, Gondozua started as a small church in 1959 under the then Wukari Parish. The founder of the church was Sabastine Gbehembe Baja. Fr. Camack was the parish priest when Zaki-Biam was carved out of Wukari Parish as an independent Mission and RCM Gondozua was still a small Church under Zaki-Biam Parish. Not until 1965 when All Saints Parish, Tsenge-Ugba was created, RCM Gondozua became a bigger church with an increased number of practicing Catholics; the Church also became a zonal headquarter under All Saints Parish, Tsenge Ugba.
The first catechist posted to the zone was Mr. Francis Tsegba. On his arrival, he quickly named the zone after his patron saint, “Francis”. Following the rapid growth of Christian activities, Gondozua was carved out of All Saints Parish, Tsenge Ugba as an independent Mission on 12th of April 2013 and was officially inaugurated on 27th June, 2013 by His Excellency; the Catholic Bishop of Katsina-Ala Diocese, Most Rev. Peter I. Adoboh and Revd Fr. Emmanuel Kor was made the Parish Priest.
The Quasi Parish has four (4) zones and twenty-six (26) outstations.
